Welcome to Home & Pets by Morgie & Dan - Your favourite site for all Australian made doggie shampoos & treats!

Hello Home & Pets is dedicated to two of my previous rescue dogs: Morgie and Dan!

Morgie, a mix of German Shepherd and Doberman, had a remarkably gentle disposition and enjoyed spending time with the elderly residents at a care facility in Brisbane. I adopted her from the Brisbane RSPCA when she was around 8 months old, and she peacefully passed away 12 years later.

When Danny was four years old, I adopted him from the AWLQ in Gold Coast. Despite being a bit neurotic due to being moved around different homes and kennels before ending up at the AWLQ due to his owner having to go to a Nursing Home. He quickly adapted to life with me and enjoyed car rides, the beach, and life in general. However, he had severe allergies that required careful management. This led me to research products to soothe his coat and find treats that wouldn't trigger his condition.

So, you've found yourself facing the classic dilemma of a dog that detests bath time with every fiber of their being. The struggle is real, but fear not, fellow fur parent, for we have the battle-tested strategies to turn your bath-hating pooch into a bath-loving superstar. Let the transformation begin!

Dog Bathing

Embracing the Hilarity

First and foremost, let's acknowledge the comedic value in the bath time saga. It's not just a chore; it's a sitcom waiting to happen. Approach the situation with confidence and a twinkle in your eye, for you are about to engage in a theatrical production like no other.

Tip 1: Sneak Peek of the Splish-Splash Fun

Introduce your four-legged friend to the bathroom environment without any bathing intentions. Let them sniff around, investigate, and realize that the bathroom isn't always a prelude to the dreaded bath. Familiarity breeds acceptance in this case.

Tip 2: Treats, Treats, Treats!

What's a surefire way to win anyone's heart? Treats, of course! Use your pooch's favorite treats as bait to lure them towards the tub. Create a trail leading to the tub and let the promise of delectable snacks work its magic.

Tip 3: Slow and Steady Wins the Bath

Patience is truly a virtue when it comes to bath time. Break down the bathing process into small, manageable steps. Start with just letting your dog sit in the empty tub, then progress to turning on the water gradually. Slowly desensitize them to the entire experience.

Tip 4: Soothing Serenades and Sweet Nothings

Dogs respond well to calming sounds and reassuring voices. Play some soothing music in the background or engage in a calming monologue to help your pooch relax during the bath. Positive associations make all the difference.

Tip 5: Post-Bath Party Palooza

The adventure doesn't end with the bath; it continues with the post-bath celebration. Treat your freshly washed superstar to a play session, extra cuddles, or their favorite activity. Create a positive after-bath routine to reinforce the notion that bath time equals fun times.

In conclusion, converting your bath-hating furball into a bath-loving superstar requires a blend of creativity, patience, and a touch of showmanship. Embrace the challenge, stay confident, and watch as your pooch transforms from a bath avoider to a bath enthusiast. The journey may be filled with bubbles and barks, but the destination is a squeaky-clean, happy pup ready to conquer the bath time blues!

So, gear up, arm yourself with treats, and prepare to unveil the hidden potential of your bath-hating pooch. A bath-loving superstar is just a bath session away!

Let the bath time adventures begin!
